Story :
Srinu (Abhijit) lives at his uncle’s place because his mother (Amala) tells him to go with his sisters and stay there. In the colony, Srinu makesfriends with Nagaraj (Sudhakar) and another guy (Kaushik). On the other hand, Srinu develops liking for Paddu(Shagun) his Maradalu while Nagaraj starts liking his neighbour Lakshmi (Zara). As for the other guy, he falls for the beautiful Paru (Shriya). The boys have scuffles with few rich boysof the posh Gold Phase locality and that also leads to certain incidents in their lives.
Now what happens next is what the story is all about and it is told mostly with clichéd situations, melodramatic moments and smart lines but portrayed in quite a delicious way.
Performances :
Amala Akkineni is good in her role. Anjala Jhaveri is beautiful with sexy aunty role as Maya. Shriya Saran is justified her role.
The rest of the fresh faces (Abhijit, Sudhakar, Kaushik, Shagun, Zara, Rashmi, Kavya, Naveen, Vijay, Sanjeev and Sriram) in the cast fumbles at times, but has done a highly impressive job in general. Watch out for a really nice performance from Abhijit, Shagun Gupta & Sudhakar, who brought a smile during the brief period when they were on screen.
Technical Aspects :
The difference between new generation Telugu filmmakers and Sekhar Kammula is evident. The new generation moviemakers though soak up techniques from the Hollywood, forget the root and our culture, But Sekhar Kammula blends technique & culture, to bring in an entirely unique product.
Sekhar Kammula has definitely done better than their last film, Leader, which was fine. But compared to their earlier films like ‘Happy Days’ and ‘Anand’, ‘Godavari’ lacks something.
Mickey J. Meyer’s scores good music. A couple of the songs are good, the background score syncs perfectly with the theme and mood. Costumesare trendy.
In fact that beautiful narration is the strength of the film. With a cute – simple storyline, which is meant to be enjoyed like of whiff of fresh air, the film just keeps you engaged all along, quite effectively. Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing suit the mood and the tempo of the film.
Verdict :
Among the highlights of Life Is Beautiful topnotch visuals, Mickey Meyer’s excellent score and Shekar Kammula’s style of blending the emotions. On the Flip Side, similarities with Happy Days, a Bit dragged post interval, Missing emotions in some scenes & Runtime. On the whole, Life Is Beautiful is an artful blend of Emotions in everyone’s life.
