Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu review

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is a mellowed version of Jab We Met and if you have already watched it, there is nothing much to add except for prolonged conversations and the sophisticated and stifling parentage of Rahul (Imran Khan) who discovers himself in the company of Riana Braganza (Kareena).
The intro of the movie is amusing that describes the three or four types of parents and the interesting outburst happens when Riana takes Rahul to her school campus and shows him the place where she tried her first kiss. Rahul thinks that is a cue and intends to proceed but the director has nothing more to show, sohe just pushes and prods the story with silly scenes and episodes.
You really wish that you had a remote on hand on some occasions, not that it is painfully slow, you knowvery clearly that he is filling in the gaps with silly 'candy' scenes on the street. The story could have actuallywound up earlier. Wonder why Kareena isn't tired of playing such chirpy roles..there are some dialoguesthat sparkle here and there but nothing that makes you expand your smile.
The music is very peppy, especially Aunty Ji number that is bound to create waves. Rahul's mother Ratna Shah is funny, the way she breaks into a hesitant smile and the glares she gives Kareena towards the end and invites her for lunch is hilarious.
The director has to be given credit for showing the metamorphosis of Rahul, the youth who lives to please his status conscious parents and the etching of Kareena's character, the impression one gets of Kareena first as a scheming, opportunist girl but soon after you tend to believe her when she says that she never thoughtabout Rahul in that apsect.
The story is about an out of job architect who one day finds himself married to an acquaintance and theydecide to annul the marriage. The climax is again dramatic, either one goes the beaten path or do somethingunfamiliar. Good that we do have an ending after Riana Braganza beats around the bush.
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is not a novel theme so one finds it a tad difficult to sit through, as the dialogues go on and on. Parts of this film is good but one has to think again to call it an average watch. The film revolves mostly around these two characters and their confabulations.
If you like the heroine acting cute and the hero finding her act cute then you might like EMAET..otherwise it is strictly average, you can see it at your own pace.
