The poor show of the Hyderabadi stylish batsman VVS Laxman in the past one year or so is now promptingthe BCCI to drop him for the fourth and final test match against Australia. The BCCI sources say once Laxman was dropped from the Team, that's anindication to the end of his career at the international level.
Out of the 133 Test Matches Laxman played till now, he scored 8728 runs at an average of 46.17. In 2009, he scored 471 runs at an average of 67.28. In 2010, he scored 939 runs at average of 67.07. In 2011, he scored 773 runs at an average 40.68.
What's most worrying is that, Laxmanaverages just 20 in last 12 overseas innings. His recent tour in England and the present tour in Australia havebeen be disastrous. In England, he averaged 22.75 in four tests. In Australia, he scored a single fifty and got out on single digit score for four times, out of the six innings (3 Tests).
Laxman has a terrific record against Australia. He scored six hundreds against them in 28 Tests and averages50.65. Sadly, he didn't produce the same results in the present tour in Australia, which led the BCCI to choose other options to replace him. If Dhoni decides to drop Laxman for the fourth test, Rohit Sharma would be given a chance.
